Osphena® FAQs
What is Osphena®?
Osphena® is a once-daily, oral, non-hormonal prescription treatment for moderate to severe vaginal dryness and/or moderate to severe dyspareunia (painful sex), symptoms of vulvar and vaginal atrophy (VVA), due to menopause. Osphena® helps improve specific vaginal tissue* to relieve these VVA symptoms.
*Increases superficial cells, decreases parabasal cells (these are two types of vaginal cells) and reduces vaginal pH.

How soon can I expect results with Osphena®?
After just 12 weeks of treatment, clinical studies showed Osphena® significantly improved the symptoms of vaginal dryness and painful sex due to menopause by:
- increasing the number of superficial cells (cells that you need more of)
- decreasing the number of parabasal cells (cells that you need less of)
- lowering vaginal pH to a more normal level
Do over-the-counter personal lubricants and moisturizers help?
Many women with moderate to severe vaginal dryness reach for over the counter lubricants or moisturizers to get through the day or make sex more comfortable. These products can help in the moment, but they only offer temporary relief—they don't address what's actually causing the dryness or the pain.
It's also important to know that, without treatment, vaginal dryness and pain with sex can gradually get worse over time.
So if you're dealing with moderate to severe vaginal dryness or painful sex related to menopause, it may be time to talk with your healthcare provider about Osphena®—an oral option that directly treats the vaginal tissue.
With continued use, Osphena® can help unlock better vaginal health and intimate comfort. In fact, in clinical studies, lubricant use decreased among women taking Osphena® by week 12.
